I don’t think there’s ever been a better looking large coupe. Saw a listing from back in January on Sotheby’s. If only I had $1.5M laying around...
The perfect mix of sinister, beautiful, and understated that so many companies try to go for these days.
There’s a red-and-chrome one out there too that, in some ways, looks ever better than the black-and-gold.
The ground clearance reminds me of that Rolls SUV development car from a while back.

I mean, compared to the regular 1953 Cadillac Series 62:
I’d say the scale of it and the proportions are more ostentatious than the design itself. Also the gold trim and gold wheels don’t help.
That one’s a bit better.

The back: oh sweet baby jeezus yes.
The front has a terminal case of the uglies.

Call me whatever you will, but I think that Ghia is one overated Italian styling house. Their stuff just doesn’t work for me. This coupe still gets a lot of press activity I just don’t understand it.
Lots of lines that just don’t add up. Reminds me of this, which accidentally wore the Ghia name as a trim level.
In ‘53 there was a lot of experimenting going on, but there ws better stuff around.

put this on my limited list of cars from the 50s I like. This is some car that Bruce Wayne or Howard Hughes should have owned.

Wow, did this out-Testarossa the Testarossa before the Testarossa existed?
Stunning car.

I like the detailing on the side but that front end is ghastly. Try these other two contemporary ghia pieces:

Yeah, some nice headlight covers and a more finished looking grille would help. It kind of reminds me of a 70s/80s Rolls Corniche with those headlights, but the Caddy looks way meaner.

Yeah, the chrome strips on this remind me of the Testarossa’s vents too. Very different application of horizontal lines along the sides of the vehicle, but it’s interesting how similar the visual affect is..

Yeah, I’m not usually a fan of cars the 50's either but this is now one of my favorites. Definitely has a bit of a batmobile/comic book look to it these days.

Yeah, the back is awesome. The diagonal detailing on the sides near the back and the huge, sloping split rear window really stand out.
I think it would benefit from some grilles over the headlights and a more finished-looking engine grille. That would make the front end perfect.
I kind of like it a little bit as is though because it looks quite sinister.
